Serving up a treat from The Square Food Foundation

Supporting the local communities in which we work is so important to us to ensure that not only is the area provided with improved facilities but also that we are engaging with the community and providing support to their businesses.

The Square Food Foundation is situated directly opposite our project at Filwood Community Centre and they do the most amazing freshly cooked hot meals at a good value price that is available to the community.

One of the choices enjoyed by our team this week was Mac 'N' Cheese served with homemade focaccia bread and they did not hold back with their praise! The consensus was that the lunch provided by the Square Food Foundation was exceptional. After a highly productive morning on site, the food provided the perfect antidote to a typical rainy winters day. It was exactly the kind of high-quality, nutritious fuel needed to keep spirits high and the project moving forward.

Thank you so much to Head of Event Catering - Stuart Seth and the team for serving our site workforce and the local community - we appreciate you!

The Square Food Foundation is a registered charity and award-winning community cookery school based in Knowle West, South Bristol. Founded in 2011 by chef and food educator Barny Haughton MBE, the foundation operates with a social-enterprise model. While they offer masterclasses and private catering to the public, the profits are directly reinvested in their core mission of reducing hunger and improving health. They work with some of the city's most marginalised groups including young people not in education (NEET), the elderly at risk of isolation, and families facing food insecurity, to teach essential life skills through the power of cooking and shared meals. They are a cornerstone of South Bristol's social fabric, proving that high-quality, nutritious food can be both affordable and a tool for lasting social change.
